Freight Logistics Services for Standard & Specialized Shipments

From Everyday Freight to the Jobs That Take a Little More Planning

Some loads are pretty straightforward. You’ve got freight to move, a pickup location, a delivery appointment, and a trailer that can handle the job.

Others aren’t quite so simple.

Maybe it’s a piece of machinery that needs a specialized trailer. Maybe the delivery deadline has moved up. Or maybe there’s nowhere to unload the freight when it gets there.

That’s the kind of work DDS Solutions helps customers solve. We provide freight logistics services for commercial and industrial shipments, from dry van transportation and expedited deliveries to oversized loads and specialized equipment.

Dry Van Freight

Not every dry van shipment involves the same schedule or the same requirements.

Some customers ship occasionally. Others have regular lanes and multiple loads moving each week.

DDS coordinates dry van transportation for both, including palletized goods, packaged products, manufacturing materials, and other general freight.

We work to find available capacity that fits the shipment, whether it’s a one-time load or part of an ongoing shipping arrangement.

A piece of machinery that needs extra height clearance. Steel beams that require overhead loading. Equipment that needs to be protected from the elements but can’t be loaded through the rear doors of a dry van.

Different loads call for different trailer configurations, and that’s where flatbed trailers, step decks with load levelers, side kits, and Conestogas come into play.

DDS can source each of these configurations, along with other open-deck equipment, depending on what you’re moving and how it needs to be handled.

The goal is to have the right trailer show up the first time, with everyone on the same page about loading, securement, and delivery.

Some freight requires equipment you don’t see on the road every day.

We’re talking about heavy machinery, oversized industrial components, wind turbine equipment, utility poles, and loads that simply aren’t going to fit on a conventional trailer.

DDS coordinates specialized transportation services using double drop trailers, RGN trailers (removable gooseneck), extendable stretch decks, pole trailers, and other specialized configurations.

Depending on the shipment, there may also be permits to obtain, routes to evaluate, or pilot cars to arrange.

These are the kinds of details that need to be worked out before the load moves, and they’re part of what we help coordinate.

When you’re moving temperature-sensitive freight, the trailer needs to do more than keep the weather out.

DDS coordinates refrigerated transportation using temperature-controlled trailers for products that need to remain within a specified temperature range during transit.

The type of product, required temperature, transit time, and delivery arrangements all factor into how the shipment is handled.

We’ll work with you to establish those requirements and arrange equipment suited to the load.

Pickup truck pulling a gooseneck hot shot trailer loaded with vehicles

A machine goes down and the replacement part is sitting three states away. A customer needs materials sooner than expected. A shipment that was supposed to move next week suddenly needs to leave tomorrow.

Those situations don’t always leave much time to work with.

DDS arranges expedited freight transportation, including hot shots and sprinter vans for qualifying loads.

When time is tight, we’ll look at the available equipment and carrier capacity to determine how quickly we can get your shipment moving. Sometimes a flatbed may be requested but not required. If we find that we can use a hot shot at a lower cost, we’ll call that out for your benefit.

Maybe your freight is coming into a port and needs to be moved inland. Maybe it’s arriving by rail and needs a truck for the final leg. Or maybe the shipment needs to be transferred at a warehouse before it can continue.

DDS helps coordinate intermodal and container transportation, including full container load (FCL) and less-than-container load (LCL) shipments.

We can also arrange transportation between facilities and additional freight handling when there’s more to the trip than a single pickup and delivery.

When Freight Needs Somewhere to Go in Between

Maybe the jobsite isn’t ready. Maybe the receiving warehouse is out of room. Or maybe the freight needs to be transferred, reworked, or held until the next stage of the shipment can happen.

Through our nationwide carrier partner, DDS has access to warehousing options throughout the country.

For freight moving through the Southeast, we also work with Axis Warehousing & Transloading in Birmingham, Alabama.

Axis provides short- and long-term warehousing, transloading, cross-docking, LTL/LCL freight handling, rework and redelivery, and yard storage.

When the original transportation plan needs another step, we have options for that, too.

Let's Talk About What You're Moving

You don’t have to know exactly which trailer or transportation arrangement you need before getting in touch.

Tell us what you’re shipping, where it’s going, when it needs to arrive, and anything unusual about the load.

We’ll take a look at the requirements, talk through the options, and work to put together a transportation plan that makes sense.
